UZH Space Hub

Innovation Park Zurich

With the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich a new platform for research, development and innovation is being created on the Dübendorf airfield. In the near future, renowned research institutions and companies will settle on the site.

Thanks to the adjoining airfield, the Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich offers excellent infrastructures for research in aerospace and in all forms of mobility. The airfield, the hangars and the emerging attractive ecosystem will also provide ideal conditions for the UZH Space Hub to realize innovative collaborations, projects and experiments in future.

In March 2018, the wooden pavilion representing the meeting and information center of the future park was opened on site. Since then, the Innovation Park Zurich has taken on a visible form.

In the near future, renowned research institutions such as the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, Empa, universities of applied sciences and companies will settle on the site. Thereby, the Innovation Park is supposed to constitute a hub where universities and industry can come together to work on new ideas for products and services and bring them to market efficiently.

The Innovation Park Zurich is being built on one of the largest open areas in Switzerland that can be developed. A generously dimensioned test infrastructure forms the heart of the park and provides space for tests requiring large areas (e.g., for operations in robotics or autonomous driving). With the adjoining airfield the Innovation Park also provides excellent infrastructures for aerospace research. The airfield, the hangars and the emerging attractive ecosystem will also provide ideal research conditions for the UZH Space Hub in future.

Halls 2 and 3, which are protected as historic monuments, will be renovated and equipped according to users’ needs in an initial construction phase by 2020/21. Office space, laboratories and workshops will be set up in the open plan hangars. Furthermore, jointly used test and meeting areas are envisaged that may be flexibly extended by temporary facilities in front of the hangars, if required.

Researchers from the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich can already use part of the existing Hangar 3 as a drone hangar for tests. In addition, an event space can be rented to host various events on site.

Would you like to get an impression of the development of the Innovation Park? We would be happy to introduce you to the park and show you the pavilion, the hangar and the rest of the site during one of our public guided tours. We look forward to your registration!
