ZHAW Strengthens CSA – New Impulses for Research and Innovation in Aviation
The Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein (CSA) gains a strategically important partner in ZHAW. ZHAW brings recognized expertise in aviation, engineering, and sustainable aviation, opening up new opportunities for research and innovation at the Dübendorf location.
The Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein (CSA) gains another key partner for research and development with ZHAW. ZHAW strengthens the CSA with its expertise in aviation, engineering, and sustainable aviation. Existing collaborations, such as those related to turbine emission measurements, will be deepened.
In addition, ZHAW is involved in international projects, including a partnership with the spin-off SkAI to analyze spoofing and jamming threats to GPS signals – a significant contribution to flight safety.
"ZHAW brings its interdisciplinary expertise in aviation to strengthen CSA and position it internationally. Additionally, the partnership opens up new research opportunities at Dübendorf airport, especially in the areas of Sustainable Aviation and Autonomous Systems," explains Prof. Dr. Michel Guillaume, head of the ZHAW Center for Aviation. The center is known for its work on drone operations, risk analyses, modern flight simulators, human factors performance, and aviation language.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Oliver Ullrich, Chairman of CSA, warmly welcomes ZHAW: "With ZHAW, the Center gains the leading competence center in Switzerland in the field of aviation and a hub for entrepreneurship. This is a tremendous gain for Switzerland's role in aerospace."
Together with partners such as the University of Zurich, Empa, HSLU, CFAC-HSG, and other institutions, new synergies are being created at the Zurich Innovation Park, located on the military airfield in Dübendorf.

ZHAW verstärkt CSA – neue Impulse für Forschung und Innovation in der Aviatik
Das Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein (CSA) gewinnt mit der ZHAW einen strategisch bedeutenden Partner. Die Hochschule bringt ausgewiesene Expertise in Aviatik, Engineering und nachhaltiger Luftfahrt ein und eröffnet neue Chancen für Forschung und Innovation am Standort Dübendorf.
Das Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein (CSA) gewinnt mit der ZHAW eine weitere Schlüsselpartnerin für Forschung und Entwicklung. Die Hochschule stärkt das CSA mit Kompetenzen in Aviatik, Engineering und nachhaltiger Luftfahrt. Bestehende Kooperationen, etwa bei der Messung von Triebwerksemissionen, werden vertieft.
Darüber hinaus engagiert sich die ZHAW in internationalen Projekten, u.a. mit dem Spin-off SkAI zur Analyse von Spoofing- und Jamming-Bedrohungen für GPS-Signale – ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Flugsicherheit.
„Die ZHAW bringt ihre interdisziplinären Kompetenzen in der Luftfahrt ein, um das CSA zu stärken und international zu positionieren. Zudem eröffnen sich mit der Partnerschaft neue Forschungsmöglichkeiten am Flugplatz Dübendorf, vor allem im Bereich Sustainable Aviation und Autonomous Systems“, erklärt Prof. Dr. Michel Guillaume, Leiter des Zentrums für Aviatik der ZHAW. Das Zentrum ist bekannt für Arbeiten zu Drohnenoperationen, Risikoanalysen, modernen Flugsimulatoren, Human Factors Performance und Aviation Language.
Prof. Dr. Dr. Oliver Ullrich, Chairman des CSA, heisst die ZHAW herzlich willkommen: «Mit der ZHAW wird das Center um das führende Kompetenzzentrum der Schweiz im Bereich der Luftfahrt und ein Zentrum des Unternehmertums verstärkt. Gemeinsam mit Partnern wie der Universität Zürich, der Empa, der HSLU, dem CFAC-HSG und weiteren Institutionen entstehen am Innovationspark Zürich auf dem Gelände des Militärflugplatzes Dübendorf neue Synergien.
